Remington XR1410 Verso Wet & Dry Men's Shaver Review

The Remington XR1410 is marketed as a multi-grooming tool for shaving and trimming facial hair as well as for deep cleaning skin. We used it “off-label” as a head shaver, and it performed with outstanding results.

The XR1410 has an ergonomic design with rubberized, textured side grips to prevent slipping. It fits comfortably in your hand while you shave, and its motor is quiet and smooth. It creates a clean shave like a razor, and you can use it with shaving foam and gel. This shaver is 100 percent waterproof for use in the shower, and you can rinse its blades under running water for easy cleaning.

The XR1410 is a triple-head shaver with rotary stainless steel blades that pivot. It’s recommended you replace the blades every 12 to 18 months, but you might need to get new ones more often. Ann Stormer, a Remington customer support specialist, taught us that blades dull and wear more quickly when used for shaving hair versus shaving whiskers, given differences in texture and volume. “You might notice compromised performance,” she said, “That’s why manufacturers don’t recommend face and neck shavers for use on the scalp.”

Stormer suggested instead we test the Remington Shortcut Pro, which is a bestselling DIY hair clipper. While we liked this clipper’s curved blades and grip, it doesn’t provide a clean shave. Also, despite manufacturers’ recommendations otherwise, many men who maintain bald hairstyles don’t want to use separate devices for their face and head, and the Shortcut Pro can’t be used on facial hair.

Using the same shaver for multiple grooming purposes can save time and money, and our testers appreciated the XR1410 ’s versatile design. It naturally adjusts to facial contours and angles and maneuvers quite nicely around the head.

The XR1410 gives you only 45 minutes of runtime and takes up to four hours to recharge. Also, you shouldn’t use it as it charges. By contrast, the Pansonic Arc 4 requires only an hour to charge and gives you comparable runtime. Both shavers have battery life indicators and worldwide voltage adaptation.

The slots and holes in the XR1410 ’s cutting heads help you get an even shave when you work with both stubble and longer hairs. The shaver comes with several accessories, including its rotary shaving head, a detail trimmer, a grooming head, an adjustable comb, a deep-cleaning brush, and a charging adapter. There’s also a zippered storage pouch to keep the kit organized. While the shaver has just one cutting length, the trimmer attachment has five.

Remington recommends cleaning this shaver after each use with a simple warm water rinse. Weekly disassembly and oiling is also advised, along with more in-depth lubrication twice annually. Household oil and sewing machine oil are recommended, and you have to purchase them separately.

Remington has fantastic customer service and has had warranties for the XR1410 for two years. Customer support is available by phone and email as well as via a contact form you fill out and submit on the company’s website.

The Remington XR1410 is a moderately priced shaver with admirable performance. Its versatility is impressive as a multi-grooming tool, and it was one of the most preferred head shavers in our tests.
