PROS / The printer has a 4.3-inch touchscreen and boasts swift printing speeds for high-volume jobs.
CONS / It’s much larger than many other multifunction printers.
VERDICT / The Verdict : 9.75/10 This top-of-the-line mobile-friendly printer is great for printing anything from PowerPoint presentations to photos. It also has enough cloud-ready tools to go beyond simple printing functionality.
The Hp Officejet Pro 9015 is an intuitive wireless all-in-one printer that may be large, but that only means that it can take on larger projects than other printers can. The tray holds 250 pages and can print on two sides. The large touchscreen makes it easy to navigate through the menus. Our Top Ten Reviews Gold Award winner also produces the same quality 4 x 6 photos that you could get at the local drugstore, and it prints quality PowerPoint handouts and other graphics. The printer is bulky – it is both bigger and heavier than many other multifunction printers – but we recommend this fantastic HP printer for any home or small office setting.
Print Quality & Speed
The Officejet Pro has impressive print speeds, both at its default settings and with custom print settings. This wireless inkjet printer has ISO speeds up to 20 ppm (pages per minute) for black-and-white prints, and 16 ppm for color prints. The ISO speed is the standard way to judge a printer’s ppm that measures printers’ out-of-the-box default speeds. These speeds are much higher than most of the multifunction printers we were able to look at. If you are looking to print a draft or lower the device’s print quality settings, you can reach speeds up to 35 ppm for both black-and-white prints and color prints.
As a printer for business needs, the Pro 9015 excels. If you are looking to print high quality pie charts, graphs or PowerPoint presentations, you can expect high quality images. The printer uses four ink cartridges – black, cyan, magenta and yellow – and has the capability to give you graphic prints that feature sharp lines, deep colors and great contrast. The color resolution goes up to 9600 x 9600 dots per inch (dpi), higher than many other inkjet printers’ resolutions, and this quality compares to many midrange and low-end laser printers.
If you take a lot of pictures and want a printer to print small photos from your mobile device or camera, this HP mobile-friendly wireless printer easily matches the local drugstore in photo quality. We are impressed with how detailed, sharp and colorful its 4 x 6 images look. If you do plan to print many photos or graphic documents, upgrading to the HP Premium printer gives you an extra 250-sheet paper tray, a set of ink cartridges worth almost $60 and a 50-sheet pack of premium glossy brochure paper.
Features
One of the best features of these multifunction printers, especially the Officejet Pro, is connectivity. Like many manufacturers, HP doesn’t include a USB cable, but you can connect to this printer via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. This keeps you cord free and allows you to move the printer wherever you want through the house or office. Using the touchscreen, you can easily navigate through the few setup screens to find your network and set up the printer.
HP’s AirPrint feature allows you to print from any iOS device without an additional application. With AirPrint, you can print a photo from you iPhoto library by choosing the connected printer and hitting Print. HP is developing ways to connect your Android devices as well, and we hope to see that in the near future. In the mean time, you can send any job from any connected device to the printer using a unique email address, which you can find using the control panel.
In addition to these services, the HP printer also comes with 21 different apps that let you print pages from news outlets such as Yahoo, USA Today and the Financial Times. If you are looking for creative ways to entertain kids, the 9015 Plus also lets you print color pages, airplane templates and other crafts from Disney, Nickelodeon and DreamWorks. You can also use the printer to apply filters to your photos and to print greeting cards and even photo IDs. Plus, the Officejet 9015 is Google Cloud compliant, which is great for business settings.
Design
This multifunction printer has an unyielding design. It doesn’t feel cheap, but it is big and heavy. Designed for small office settings, the 9015 weighs just less than 28 pounds and that is without any paper in it. Since it is a wireless printer, you will almost never have to move it around, but the cumbersome weight could cause you problems if you do have to move the printer.
Weight is really is the only problem with the design. The 250-sheet input tray is above the industry standard for this style of printer. There is also a 50-page automatic document feeder on top for faxing and copying. The flatbed scanner measures 8.5 x 14 inches, which is perfect for scanning letter- and legal-size documents. There is a 4.3-inch color LCD touchscreen on the printer. We found that the screen is large enough for you to run through the menus easily. From the touchscreen, you can control all the printer’s functions and download related apps.
Help & Support
HP backs its Office Jet Pro 9015 with a one-year warranty that also includes 24/7 phone support and a live chat feature that is only available on weekdays. HP has a goldmine of support and offers downloads for manuals and drivers, as well as forums and FAQs regarding any of its printers. If you have issues setting up this wireless all-in-one printer, HP includes a troubleshooting guide with the device.
Summary
The HP Officejet 9015 Pro is the type of printer that lasts for thousands of prints. The quality of documents, graphics, presentations and photos is superb and surpasses many of the other multifunctional printers we looked at. This mobile-friendly wireless printer also provides a way for you to print from the cloud or your Apple device. The printer is heavy, but it easily earns its place at the top of our lineup.
